Miracle Motorsports Nets Solid In le Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres

August 5, 2001--Miracle Motorsports nets the best finish of this season in the running of Le Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres this weekend. Brent Sherman (N. Barrington, IL) started the #6 Miracle Motorsports/Serta Mattress Ford entry today from 5th on the starting grid. Qualified in the 6th spot, Sherman was able to move up a position even before the race started, due to the #27 Doran Ferrari-Judd being moved to the back of the grid after making some changes on the car.

Sherman quickly moved the #6 Ford powered Riley and Scott up to 4th place after the #37 Banana Joe's entry lost the transmission. After several laps, the #37 entry would rejoin the field, but not be in contention for a podium finish. Brent posted his fastest lap time on the 49th lap, a 1:03.703.

Sherman would come in around lap 60 and team owner John Macaluso (Winter Haven, FL) would then take the wheel.

Three caution flags would interrupt the race pace today. The first being shown when the #37 lost the transmission. The second only a few laps later due to an SRP II entry spinning and being in a compromising position on the track. The last of the caution flags was thrown due to the #25 entry of Scott Maxwell, in 5th place at the time just ahead of Macaluso in the #6 entry, running out of fuel. Maxwell would therefore hand the 5th position back over to Macaluso.

John Macaluso would bring home the Miracle Motorsports/Serta Mattress Riley and Scott to a well-deserved 7th place finish today. Round 9 of the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series will be this weekend from Watkins Glen International Raceway, Watkins Glen, NY.
