SFOW Maserati Continues Successful Season at Mid-Ohio
LEXINGTON, OH (August 7, 2004) The SFoW Maserati Trofeo Light continued its successful 2004 season at the EMCO Gears Mid-Ohio Road Racing Classic, part of the Rolex Sports Car Series. Driver Emil Assentato qualified the Maserati eighth among all the GT cars, and after running as high as fifth, the Maserati finally finished seventh in GT and 18th overall among the 37 starters.
"Every session we continue to develop the Maserati," Assentato explained before the race. "We've solved the little electronic problem from our last race, and we even found a couple of improvements since qualifying. The car just continues to get better."
Teammates Joao Barbosa and Steve Earle shared Assentato's enthusiasm for the improvements to the Maserati. After the race Earle remarked, "We really had a good race, better than the results would indicate. A couple of times we just got caught out with the yellows, and one time that cost us a lap to the GT leaders. Our goal remains 2005, though, and the Maserati continues to improve, so I'm not at all disappointed with the weekend."
The SFoW Maserati team has little time until their next race, on August 13th at Watkins Glen, New York. The Sahlen's 200 at the Glen is scheduled to start at approximately 6:30 PM, and will be broadcast on SPEED TV later that night at 10PM (EST).
Primary sponsorship for the SFoW Maserati team comes from Maserati of Washington.
