Mae Van Wijk Returns to Action

Synergy Racing driver Mae Van Wijk (Houston, Texas) returned to action on Saturday morning, sliding behind the wheel of the No. 81 Porsche GT3 Cup sponsored by autobysite.com and pipeservicestt.com. The 22-year-old racer faced wet conditions at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course during the final Rolex Sports Car Series practice prior to Saturday evening's EMCO Gears Classic. Her best lap time was a 1:37.037 averaging 83.770 mph around the 2.258-mile circuit.

"It felt good to be back in the car," remarked Van Wijk. "There's quite a bit of traffic out there, which makes it interesting with the wet conditions. I was trying to get an idea of where water might gather during the race if it rains. The set-up of the car is a bit off from where I would like it, but it will be fine for the race."
