The team split the driving duties between the two Practice sessions, to allow for each driver to have more track time. Christian Fittipaldi drove in the first session, and Eddie Cheever most of the second session, with Fittipaldi getting into the car at the last stop.

CHRISTIAN FITTIPALDI - Driver
"The car was fine, the team made necessary changes in the car, and there were no mechanical issues. This was important because of the new engine installation. I'm pretty happy.

The track was dirty at first because we were the first cars out on the track since the race last December. But as the session went on, the grip level increased, not drastically but incrementally."

DAVE MEEHAN - Team Manager
"We installed a new Porsche engine last week and today's session was important."

Team Cheever was thirteenth fastest for the day, in a field of 38 cars, with a best lap time of 1:24.397/106.639mph.
