Matt Bell pulling double duty at Daytona in 50th running of Rolex 24 and BMW Performance 200 at Daytona
Altamonte Springs, FL/January 23, 2012 – If you watch any part of the racing action this coming weekend at Daytona International Speedway P1 Groupe Driver Matt Bell will be involved in it. Bell, who is one of GRAND-AM bright young and talented stars, will be pulling double duty this weekend by driving in both the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Rolex 24 at Daytona and the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series BMW Performance 200 at Daytona. Bell will drive for Stevenson Motorsports in both events. On Friday Bell will co-drive with driver John Edwards in the #9 Stevenson Auto Group Camaro GS.R in the GS class. The duo finished seventh in the 2011 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series team points standings with two wins, and will be looking to kick start their 2012 campaign with a victory at Daytona.
As for the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Rolex 24 at Daytona, Bell will be driving the new # 75 Stevenson Auto Group/Intersil Camaro GT.R. He will be accompanied in the American muscle car by drivers Al Carter, Eric Curran and Hugh Plumb. Bell has been tagged to drive in the GT class for Stevenson Motorsports for all three endurance races this coming year. For some drivers pulling double duty on such a difficult weekend would be tough but Bell has been preparing for this opportunity and is ready to take on all Daytona has to throw at him.
“I’m really happy to have been resigned by Stevenson Motorsports. I love being in the Rolex 24 and want to thank Johnny Stevenson for once again giving me the opportunity. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel and push the #75 Camaro GS.R to the front. On the GS side, I love driving that car, John Edwards and I get along well off the track, and like similar set ups in the car. Having a second full season together, our goal is to compete for wins every time we hit the track, and hopefully that leads to a championship.”
