June 20, 2006 - Baltimore, MD -The last time Michael Levitas competed in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve, he woulnd up on the top step of the podium at the 24 Hours of Daytona. The veteran car owner/driver will attempt to keep him winning percentage perfect for the 2006 season as he pilots the #35 Ian Global Shipping TPC Racing Porsche GT3 Cup this weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Emco Gears Classic. Levitas will share the driving duties with John Angelone.
The team is expecting a better result than the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen, when early contact went the #35 Ian Global Shipping TPC Racing Porsche to the garage with suspension troubles. Levitas and Angelone are confident that they can earn the first podium finish of the season for the #35 Ian Global Shipping TPC Racing Porsche GT3 Cup.
"The #35 Porsche was really fast at Watkins Glen," said Levitas. "We had excellent practice times and were expecting a great finish, but unfortunately with the bad weather conditions and the slick track, we got caught up in an early incident that ultimately ended our day. Mid-Ohio is a terrific track for us. I expect John (Angelone) and myself to be fast in the #35 Ian Global Shipping TPC Racing Porsche GT3 Cup. Our goal is a podium finish, but first, we just need to have the #35 Ian Global Shipping Porsche take the checker flag."
