MONTEREY, Cal. (May 19, 2007) -- Memo Rojas qualified fifth to lead three Lexus-powered Daytona Prototypes into the top-10 in qualifying for Sunday's Road and Track 250 at Laguna Seca in one of the closest qualifying sessions in series history.
Rojas, who will co-drive the #01 Telmex Lexus with Scott Pruett, was one of five drivers separated by just .104 seconds at the top of the Daytona Prototype grid. Rojas has qualified in the top-eight in each of his first Grand-Am qualifying efforts, twice placing in the top-five. Tomorrow's event will mark the first time this season that Rojas will race on a track that he's previously competed on.

The first-year AIM squad has now qualified in the top-10 in three consecutive events, including a sixth at VIR and the seventh today. Frisselle will team with Mark Wilkins in Sunday's feature event.
The #6 Michael Shank Racing Lexus-Riley earned a second consecutive top-10 qualifying effort with a 10th-place showing by Ian James today after a seventh at VIR. James has a new teammate in John Pew beginning this weekend. Sunday's race will mark Pew's second in Daytona Prototype competition.
Rob Finlay placed 14th in the #19 Z-Line Designs/Make-A-Wish Foundation Lexus-Riley prepared by Chip Ganassi Racing. He'll share the car with former Toyota Atlantic star Michael Valiante on Sunday. Mark Patterson, who will team with Oswaldo Negri, was was 14th in his Michael Shank Racing Lexus, while Randy Ruhlman was 18th in his Preformed Line Products Lexus-Riley for Southard Racing. Shane Lewis will co-drive in tomorrow's event.
