Broken alternator thwarts qualifying chance for Frisselles

(Monterey, CA) 6 May 2006-- A broken alternator prevented the GlycoMax Doran of Burt and Brian Frisselle from finishing the half-hour qualifying race at Laguna Seca on Saturday, so the two young brothers will have their work cut out for them on Sunday as they start from twenty-seventh on the grid for the U.S. Sportscar Invitational.

"It's too bad because the car was actually better than it has been all weekend," said Burt. "But these things happen, and all we can do is try to make the most of the race tomorrow. It is going to be a long race, and I think there are going to be some yellows early on. You always want to start at the front of course, but hopefully we can catch a few breaks and move to the front tomorrow."

The GlaycoMax machine started from twenty-first for the half hour sprint, and as the field filed cleanly through the tight turn one, Burt was going to work, but he was immediately hampered by a problem with the steering, enough so that he needed to bring the car in for a check with the Synergy Racing crew. A quick survey of the mechanicals revealed no issues, but when he went to fire the Porsche motor back to life, it became clear that the alternator had gone bad, causing the problems with the steering and then in turn preventing Burt from fighting for a better start on the grid.

The U.S. Sportscar Invitational will start at 3:00 PM ET on Sunday and will be broadcast live on Sunday, May 7th on Speed Channel.
