San Francisco, California --(May 31, 2000) -- Jennifer Tumminelli, Tiburon, California resident will make her Grand-Am debut at the Mid-Ohio race on June 1-4th. Campaigning the Scient sponsored Racers Group (#67) Porsche 996 GTU entry, Jennifer will team up with Sears Point Raceway, California based team, Racers Group (#66) driven by Kevin Buckler and Philip Collins in a two car team debut.
Along with her Grand-Am driving debut, Jennifer will bring a fresh, unique media angle to the Mid-Ohio race weekend. Jennifer, age 35, a single mom will be joined at the track by her 15 year old daughter, Nicole and the Oprah Show film crew as they tape for their upcoming show segment "Choose Your Life" to be aired on June 6th.
Jennifer Tumminelli, a former CART / PPG Pace Car Driver, Star Formula Mazda Driver and the first pole-sitter for the inaugural Women's Global GT Series returns to Porsche racing. In 1995, Jennifer became the first female driver to take the pole and win her SCCA Driving School in a Porsche and soon after competed in numerous Porsche Club races continually qualifying her less horse-powered Porsche 914-6 (her father nicknamed, Slug-go) in the top six in the fastest class and as the only female in a field filled with Porsche 993 Daytona cars and drivers, one of which is her current teammate and team owner, Kevin Buckler.
