Trois-Rivieres, Que., CANADA (July 29, 2000) - InterSport Racing's Banana Joe's Island Party Judd-powered Lola B2K/10 will start on the inside of Row four in Grand America Road Racing Association's race at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres. The 92-lap (225 kilometer/140 mile) race will take place on a 1.521 temporary street circuit in Trois-Rivieres and will begin at 3:10 p.m. on Sunday, July 30.

Jon Field (Dublin, Ohio), owner/driver of InterSport Racing qualified the car with a time of 1:00.801/90.058 mph. Field was caught up in traffic for much of the session and unable to get in a clean lap as only .776 second separated the top seven qualifiers, making it the closest qualifying session of the Grand Am season to date. The pole went to the Doran Lista Racing Judd-Doran driven by Didier Theys with a time of 1:00.025/91.222 mph.

With the spectacular starts of which Field is capable, starting seventh shouldn't be too much of a handicap in the race. The car has proved quick and reliable since overheating problems caused the team to miss most of the initial practice session on Friday.

Field and co-driver, Oliver Gavin (Northampton, England), were quickest during the practice on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. The Banana Joe's car was the only car to post a lap time of under one minute (59.980/91.290 mph) during the weekend.

It was the first time on the Trois-Rivieres track for both Field and Gavin. "The circuit is a bit rough and very tight. It's a little momentum track," said Field. Gavin agreed, "There are many places where you can't go two abreast. The arch (going into Turn 3) is the most daunting corner because you can't see around the monument; it's also one of the most important corners since it leads on to the long straight."

InterSport took delivery of the Lola B2K/10 just two weeks ago and the Trois-Rivieres race is only the second Grand American Road Racing event for the car. The other race was two weeks ago at Road America (Elkhart Lake, Wisc.) with the car right out of the box. Still in the factory-delivered carbon fiber black finish, the car earned a respectable fifth.
