Hurley Haywood Announces Partnership with Ocean Waves Sunglasses
Jacksonville, FL: When it comes to the world of sportscar racing, the name Hurley Haywood is synonymous with success. In a career spanning over forty years, Haywood is the only driver to have won the 24 Hours of Daytona five times, in addition to the Le Mans 24 Hours three times and the 12 Hours of Sebring twice. Those ten victories have made the Jacksonville, Florida resident the most successful endurance driver in history.
Haywood became a fan of Ocean Waves sunglasses during the 90's when he was running in the SuperCar Championship. As he returns to Daytona to drive for Brumos in his final race at the 2010 Rolex 24, he decided the time had come to also return to the Ocean Waves family. He reflected on his history with the company, saying "I enjoyed my affiliation with Ocean Waves and came to really depend on their sunglasses. Plus, they are a local company, and I always enjoy doing business in my own hometown. Throughout the years, I have tried other brands, but somehow, I always found my way back to my Ocean Waves. They offer a great variety of styles, but the clarity of the lenses is what impressed me the most ? and when you're driving a race car, you need all the advantages you can get. The high quality of the lens gives me an edge, and not only in my racing career. My off-track passion is boating, and these sunglasses adapt equally well whether you are out on the water or in the cockpit of a racecar."
As Hurley retires from his professional racing career, he remains active in a management role with both Brumos Porsche and the Brumos Racing team. He also serves as Chief Driving Instructor for the prestigious Porsche Sport Driving School. While he may not be racing professionally following the Daytona 24 hour competition, you can be sure he will be logging many miles, and depending on his Ocean Waves to help him on the way.
