Qualifying For The Nextel 250 Canceled Due To Fatal Accident

March 1, 2001- The Rolex Sports Car Series held practice sessions today for Saturday's Nextel 250 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, were halted due to the fatal crash of driver Jeff Clinton, driver of the #21 Archangel Motorsports entry. (See www.grand-am.com for full story). The #27 Doran Lista Judd-powered Dallara posted the fastest time of the day with a 1:10.399 lap at 122.729 mph. The #6 Miracle Motorsports Ford Riley & Scott had the second fastest time with 1:11.678 lap time.

Due to the severity of the day's events, the starting grid for Saturday's race will be based on team points obtained during the 24 Hours Of Daytona. This will place the #6 Miracle Motorsports entry in the 6th place on the grid, since the #6 Ford was absent from that event. Running second quickest in practice today, team owner/driver, John Macaluso (Winter Haven, FL) is very comfortable with that position. "There will most likely be a couple of yellow's in the first half of the 250 mile event, that should leave us in a very good position to bring home a podium finish." states Macaluso.

Co-driving with Macaluso will be Buddy Rice (Phoenix, AZ). Rice was piloting the #6 Miracle Motorsports Ford powered entry during the afternoon sessions, posting impressive lap times.

The Nextel 250 from Homestead may be seen live on the Speed Channel beginning at 3:30 pm, Saturday, March 2. For race results, please visit our site at www.miraclemotorsports.com.
