Cummins Qualifies Outside of Row 12 at Homestead Friday In CyberSpeed Racing Riley Pontiac No. 97

HOMESTEAD, Fla., March 24 - Skip Cummins of Houston put the CyberSpeed Racing CRD Pontiac-powered Riley Daytona Prototype No. 97 into the field for Saturday's Rolex Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway by qualifying on the outside of row 12 Friday night on the track's 2.3-mile road course.

His official qualifying time for 24th place in the field of 47 was a lap in 1:18.199 for an average speed of 105.884 miles per hour.

The Alex Job Racing Crawford Porsche got the pole with a 1:13.960 (111.952 mph).

"We're looking forward to a fast, clean race and a better finish than our qualifying would suggest," Cummins said immediately after climbing out of the car, which features new "hot rod" livery by ESBG Design of Miami Beach, Fla. "The crew worked really hard and made significant changes to the car, and the changes were all very positive. The car is ready to go [for tomorrow's race]."

"We're getting zeroed in on it," lead driver Tony Ave of Mooresville, N.C. concurred. "This is our first race together as a team, and we've had no problems with the car so far. We're looking forward to a good race tomorrow."

The race will be televised on SPEED starting at 8 p.m. Eastern tomorrow night.

CyberSpeed Racing is headquartered in Maiden, N.C., near Charlotte. Its Web site is under development at cyberspeedracing.us. Other sources for information on the event are grandamerican.com and restartcommunications.com.
