NEW CENTURY DUO MIGRATE SOUTH FOR THIS WEEKEND'S GP OF MIAMI

INDIANAPOLIS (March 2, 2005) -- An impressive fourth-place performance in the no.02 New Century Mortgage Lexus-Riley's inaugural run showed the way for the three-car Ganassi stable at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, and pilots Stefan Johansson and Cort Wagner will look to retain their recently acquired frontrunner status this weekend as the New Century Mortgage Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates squad unloads at Homestead-Miami Speedway for Saturday's Grand Prix of Miami.

Miami's 250-mile Rolex Series mix of sleek Daytona Prototypes and sporty GT cars will provide plenty of action for the team, and Johansson's strategy is one rooted in aggressiveness as he prepares for the Southern Florida showdown.

"We obviously had a strong showing at Daytona, but there's a big difference in the way we'll prepare for a 250-mile event like this weekend," said Johansson. "The Miami layout is over a mile shorter than Daytona, and instead of 31 degree banking around the NASCAR portion of the circuit, you have a modest 21 degrees. It would be safe to say the strategy Cort, our engineers and I will deploy will be a lot more aggressive, and we won't be shy about getting to the front of the field."

New Century Mortgage co-driver Wagner authored a career best finish of second last year in Daytona Prototype competition at Homestead, and will add value to the team's setup this weekend knowing seat time equals speed when trying to unravel the teal-fenced facility's equation for victory.

"After our result in Daytona, I think we have a great shot at winning this weekend," said Wagner, who contested the Miami 250 with G&W Motorsports in 2004. "Last year's race was wild and very unpredictable with everyone leaning into each other in the waning moments. If that race was two laps longer we would have been in victory circle based on the fact we were gaining so much ground on the leader. Having the experience to adjust to a layout which combines the high NASCAR-style banking and the road course is going to be key. I'm excited to get going and hope Stefan and I can continue to improve the New Century Mortgage machine."
