HENZLER JOINS FARNBACHER LOLES TEAM FOR 2008 GRAND AM RACES
Daytona, FL., 17th November 2007. Germany's 2006 Porsche Cup winner, Wolf Henzler, has already begun his quest for Grand Am success in 2008 after completing two highly successful days of practice with this season's GT Championship winning Farnbacher Loles team at Daytona International Speedway in Florida.
The 32-year-old will be joining Farnbacher Loles for the longer endurance events in the Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Series calendar. These will be the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January, the Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen (Watkins Glen) in June, and the 1000 Kilometre race at Miller Motorsports Park (Salt Lake City) in September.
At Daytona this week Henzler joined with 2007 GT Champion, Dirk Werner, Dominik Farnbacher, Eric Lux, Leh Keen and Ian Baas in the #87 and #88 Porsche GT3 cars, all running for the first time on the Series' new Pirelli tires.
"It was a really great two days of testing," said Wolf. "Pirelli did a good job, and seem to have made an excellent tire. We did a lot of laps over the two days, about 14 hours of testing, with hardly any red or yellow flag stoppages, so it was a good test. Farnbacher Loles was the quickest of the GT teams although it was very close, with the Mazda, Pontiac and Mustang also being very fast. It will be an exciting season, I think.
"I don't yet know who I will be driving with at the Rolex 24, but I do know I am in a good car and there are many good drivers within the team so I am absolutely not worried about who will be my team mates. We have two good cars which are both capable of winning so I would be happy to be in either."
The Grand Am races will complement his commitments to Tafel Racing, with whom he will be racing for the full 2008 American Le Mans Series. Further details of that program will be announced in due course.
