Rain Shortens Day Two Of Indianapolis Continental Tire Test
Four GRAND-AM Rolex Series Teams To Return On Friday
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 8, 2011) – Thursday was a wet one at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, except for several morning hours that afforded precious track time on the 2.605-mile road course.
Four cars from the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 managed to turn laps during the second day of a Continental Tire test in preparation for next year’s Super Weekend at the Brickyard (July 26-29, 2012) before the rains returned and cancelled the remainder of the session.
As a result, the test has been extended to Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
“It was good get to get out, even though we were not near each other on the track,” said Ronnie Bremer, running his first laps at Indy in the No. 57 Stevenson Auto Group Chevrolet Camaro GT.R. “I’ve been around the city of Indianapolis from my Champ Car days, with many of the teams based around here, but I’ve never been around this track before. It’s unbelievably huge. I’m looking forward to our race here next year. That will be taking it to another level.”
Also testing were Max Angelelli in the No. 10 SunTrust Chevrolet/Dallara, Alex Gurney in the No. 99 GAINSCO Auto Insurance Chevrolet/Riley and Craig Stanton in the No. 44 Magnus Racing Porsche GT3.
The Rolex Series and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge will participate in a pair of races on Friday, July 27 next year, and will be joined by the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series in the expanded Super Weekend at the Brickyard.
