Brumos Racing Ready to Deliver a Big Finish to 2011 at Mid-Ohio

Jacksonville, FL: Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course has long been a track favored by Brumos Racing, whose winning history there dates back to the Haywood/Gregg era of the 70’s. While the track has been a regular stop on the GRAND-AM Rolex Series schedule, Mid-Ohio has not often had the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the determination of a championship. This season that will change, as Mid-Ohio hosts its first Rolex Series finale and the stage is set for a dramatic conclusion to one of the most challenging GT competitions ever. Brumos is now within three points of the lead and is a top contender to claim the 2011 Rolex Series GT Championship title.

For Brumos Team Manager Skip Schinsing, it is business as usual for the Mid-Ohio race weekend. “We are going through our routine just like we have from the start,” he said. “We are giving it a little bit of extra love, but we know we have a good car and that we can run with the other cars that are at the top of the grid. The key is in the execution, morning to night. Our guys need to keep their heads down and stick with what has been a proven formula. We have the best drivers in the paddock, and we are going to give them the same car they have won races with in the past and go from there. It will definitely be exciting - we are rested and we are ready.”

Andrew Davis scored 2 nd place podiums at Mid-Ohio in 2007 and 2008, and is no stranger to a heated championship battle. “This year has really showcased the competitiveness of the GRANDAM Rolex Series, especially in the GT class,” he said. “Having the finale race at Mid-Ohio makes our visit there extremely meaningful this year, for it’s very likely the team that wins the race will also be crowned as the Rolex Series GT Champion. It’s quite fitting for me, personally, as I twice participated in the SCCA National Runoffs at Mid-Ohio, which were also winner-take-all events. I am very proud to be part of the Brumos Racing squad that has put the legendary Brumos #59 Porsche right in the thick of it all. Leh and I will do our best to bring this one home for our team.”

Leh Keen, who earned back-to-back Mid-Ohio wins in 2008 and 2009, also holds the fastest race lap for the GT class at Mid-Ohio, a record set en route to his Rolex Series GT Championship in 2009. Keen is particularly looking forward to his return to Mid-Ohio as a Brumos driver. “From day one, this Brumos team was something special,” he said. “Having begun my career in Porsches, to be able to drive the famous Brumos #59 Porsche and begin this season with Andrew and alongside Hurley Haywood was a milestone in my career. I can’t say enough about how hard all of our guys have worked to get us to this point. In 2008, I won the Rolex GT race in the rain at Mid-Ohio and it was a great run. I also won there in 2009, so it’s definitely a special place for me. I can’t wait to get back for 2011 and help Brumos close out this season with another victory at Mid-Ohio.”
