DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (November 9, 2000) - Grand American Road Racing has posted a provisional 2001 rulebook on its website at www.grand-am.com. In making the announcement, Grand-Am's Director of Competition Dave Watson noted, "We've stayed very close to what we did last year. There are a few refinements and additions. We have underlined the new information to make it easy to find."

Watson added that the rules will be finalized after completion of the test session currently underway at Daytona International Speedway. "We've got a couple of things we're looking at with some of the cars and we're getting input and reaction to what we've got so far," he added. "I expect we'll have the final rulebook on the web early next week."

Rules on the website are available for easy download as Acrobat PDF files. To get there, click "competition" at the top of the home page. From there, there is a link to the rules, which are offered for each class in the series.

According to Watson, one of the biggest changes came in the distribution of points for the drivers' championships. "We took a close look at how points are awarded for drivers and how that related to the time each driver spent behind the wheel," he added. "We made a few revisions to make the correlation between points and seat time more realistic."

Grand-Am will kick off its 2001 season with the Rolex 24 At Daytona on February 3-4. The complete schedule as well as the latest breaking news is also available on the website.

Race information and tickets for the Rolex 24 are available at www.daytonaintlspeedway.com.
