WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – The Grand American Road Racing Association will conclude its inaugural season this weekend at historic Watkins Glen International, with a 53-car entry set for a trio of points races in the Bosch Sports Car Summerfest.

Both the SportsRacer and GT classes will compete in a pair of 100-kilometer points races on Friday evening, which will also set the starting lineup for Sunday’s Six Hours.

James Weaver enters the finale with a 15-point lead over Didier Theys in the battle for the SportsRacer championship. Both drivers are former winners of the Six Hours. Weaver, a four-time 2000 winner, will drive with Butch Leitzinger and Andy Wallace in a Ford-powered Riley and Scott entered by Dyson Racing. Theys, a two-time winner this season, is paired with Fredy Lienhard and Ross Bentley in the Doran Lista Special. Kevin Doran’s team holds a slim six-point lead over Dyson Racing in the battle for the Team Owner Program championship.

The SportsRacer entry also includes the second Dyson Ford for Elliott Forbes-Robinson, John Paul Jr., and Dyson; Mimmo Schiattarella and Ralf Kelleners in the Risi Competizione Ferrari 333SP; George Robinson and Jack Baldwin in the Informix Software Riley and Scott Judd; Oliver Gavin and Jon Field in the Banana Joe’s Judd Lola; Jim Downing and Howard Katz in the Downing Atlanta Mazda Kudzu; Tom Volk, Craig Carter and Andy Petery in the TRV Motorsports Riley and Scott Chevy; Mark Simo in the Hybrid Racing Riley and Scott Ford; and Bob Wollek and Dorsey Schroeder in the Champion Porsche Lola.

Friday’s Grand-Am schedule opens with practice at 10:45 a.m. The 18-lap qualifying race for the American GT, GTO and GTU classes begins at 7:15 p.m., followed by the SportsRacer and SportsRacer Lights qualifying race at 8 p.m.

The Bosch Sports Car Summerfest also includes two races for the U.S. Formula 2000 National Championship, plus a three-hour Motorola Cup race on Saturday and a U.S. Formula 3 race. Tickets will be on sale at the gate. For additional information, check the official web site, www.grand-am.com.
