CORDEX INSTRUMENTS BOOST FOR GEDDIE

Christmas has come early for Aberdeen racing driver Glynn Geddie after CorDEX Instruments stepped in to help him to fulfil his dreams of racing in America.

The 20 year-old jets off to Houston later this month to test the Crawford-Chevrolet prototype that he'll race at the prestigious Daytona 24 event at the end of January.

The manufacturer of explosion proof digital cameras and intrinsically safe offshore test equipment is backing Geddie, who helped Trackspeed colleague David Ashburn scoop first place in the British GT Championships earlier this year.

The deal will help the Porsche driver compete both at home and abroad, starting with preparations for the Daytona meeting.

Glynn Geddie:
"I am extremely grateful to CorDEX Instruments for their support and I'm already looking forward to when the new season starts when I can hopefully do them proud.

"It means a lot to me when a new sponsor comes on board and I'll be working as hard as I can to do all I can for the CorDEX team.

"Getting the chance to race in America, and in particular Daytona, is something that has always appealed to me and I appreciate the support I've had to make this happen."

Yorkshire based CorDEX Instruments has recently launched a new base in Aberdeen as it brings its unique product range to the oil and gas industry.

Marcus Halliday, General Manager CorDEX Instruments:
"We have been following Glynn's progress extremely closely and decided that we wanted to show our support and commitment to Aberdeen by sponsoring this talented young sportsman.

"We've been impressed by Glynn's positive attitude and the coaching that he does with younger people, so we wish him well for the races ahead.

"Our explosion proof digital cameras are designed to the highest safety standards and are ideal for use offshore. We are developing a whole family of other ATEX certified products for the oil industry that will be launched next year."

CorDEX Instruments manufacture ATEX certified products including the world's first explosion proof digital camera with flash and zoom, which can be used offshore without hot permits.

The Centurion XPG digital camera is encased in aluminium with an ultra-bright LCD display protected by armoured glass and can capture images up to 10 megapixels, plus moving pictures in AVI format.

Photographs can be instantly viewed and with upto 2GB of capacity it can store hundreds of images which can be transferred via high speed USB to a PC. It also has an in-built strobe flash for use in low light, a rechargeable battery pack and even macro lenses for close-up work.
