ALTON, Va. (December 4, 2002) -- Cole Scrogham, President of G&W Motorsports, Inc. announced today that it will hold private testing for their new DP2 Daytona Prototype, powered by BMW, opting out of the Prototype test at Daytona International Speedway this week. The G&W DP2 will make its public debut in January Rolex 24 at Daytona test days.
The DP2 will begin with a shakedown and proceed into serious developmental work as Virginia International Raceway (VIR) closes for the holidays. The G&W team will be able to test at will between trips to Langley Full-scale Wind Tunnel and Ohlin's shake-rig suspension testing. "The goal of this intensive private testing is to present a competitive and reliable car to the public in January", said Cole.
"We have chosen to test the car in a controlled environment in our own backyard. This way we have an opportunity to shake out any bugs that might have come over with the car in a private forum", stated Scrogham. "The team worked the entire 2002 season perfecting different components on the SRPII and are massaging them into a tremendous Daytona Prototype race car".
Managing Director, Price Cobb added, "With our complete race shop facilities right next to the track, we have the capability of making modifications and adjustments right here at home. We want the public on track debut to be as spectacular as we know it will be. The car is wonderful and we want the public to see it at it's best."
