Pacific Coast signs Frisselles for GT debut
24 July 2006-Pacific Coast Motorsports has signed Burt and Brian Frisselle to contest the Barber Motorsports Park round of Rolex Sports Car Series competition in the Ironclad/Wine Country Motorsports Pontiac GTO.R.
The young brother driving duo have over twenty starts together in the Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype ranks, and are looking forward to mixing it up in the highly competitive GT class. Burt and Brian recently had the opportunity to test the powerful Ironclad Pontiac GTO.R machine, which marked the first time that either of them had driven a race car with the engine in front of them.
"It was a lot different of course than what I have been driving lately, and certainly a different sight picture from the drivers seat!" said Brian. "But the car is a lot of fun to drive, and I am pretty sure that it will be even more fun to race, and to get the chance to do this with Burt is a great opportunity."
After having so many laps under their belt in Prototype competition, the Frisselles are hoping to put that knowledge to use this weekend with their new GT ride.
"The GT class is really competitive, with a lot of good teams, cars, and drivers, so I know it's going to be a tough fight," said Burt. "But the car is fast and the team obviously knows what they are doing, so hopefully we can get a good result in our debut. I also think that having driven so much in a Prototype is going to help us deal not only with the DP's, but also the other GT's in traffic, so we are really looking forward to the race at Barber."
Pacific Coast scored a win with the No. 89 machine in the Phoenix qualifying race with Boris Said at the wheel, and is looking to build on that success with the Frisselles.
"I'm really pleased to have the opportunity to work with the Frisselles," said PCM Team Director Tyler Tadevic. "I didn't want to miss the opportunity to sign them up to compete for us at Barber this weekend and possibly for further events so I'm pleased we sealed the deal. The #98 Pontiac has a great pedigree already and I'm looking forward to having both Burt and Brian build on that."
The Porsche 250 presented by Bradly Arant will get underway with a promoter test day on Thursday, July 27th, with Sunday's race slated for a 3:00PM ET start, which will be carried LIVE on Speed Channel.
