Two Synergy Racing Entries Post Top-10 Times in Qualifying at California Speedway
FONTANA, Calif. (April 2, 2005) -- Synergy Racing posted two cars in the top 10 of their respective classes during Rolex Sports Car Series qualifying at California Speedway on Saturday for the Ferrari Maserati 400.
Los Angeles-native Burt Frisselle will start Synergy Racing's Rx.com No. 8 BMW Doran JE4 on the third row after recording the sixth-fastest time overall. Frisselle put together a 1:33.909 lap averaging 108.105 mph around California Speedway's 2.82-mile road course.
"I'm pretty happy with that result," said Frisselle, who shares the Rx.com car with this younger brother Brian. "I made a mistake on my second flying lap, and I was pretty upset with myself, but I was glad we got the chance to go back out and that I could improve my time again (after the black flag during qualifying)."
David Murry, of Atlanta, Ga., will start on the second row of the GT class during Sunday's main event, turning the fourth-fastest GT time in the No. 80 Porsche GT3 Cup he shares with Long Beach's Craig Stanton. Murry clocked a 1:42.613 lap averaging 98.935 mph.
Mae Van Wijk, of Houston, Texas, will start on the 12th row in the GT class following her 1:50.036 lap at 92.261 mph in the No. 81 Porsche sponsored by pipeservicestt.com and autobysite.com. Van Wijk, the youngest female in the Rolex Series, will share driving duties in the No. 81 Porsche with Murry, who will compete in both Synergy Racing Porsches on Sunday.
The green flag will fall on the Ferrari Maserati 400 on Sunday at 1 p.m. PDT. The Rolex Series race will be aired live on SPEED Channel.
