ORISON-Planet Earth Motorsports Takes its Chances in California
North Canton, Ohio -- The ORISON-Planet Earth Motorsport Team is traveling to Fontana this weekend with hopes of picking up its third win of the season in ROLEX Grand American competition. A win could mean that the No. 41 car has a chance at second place in team point standings in the Super Grand Sport class.
The first win came at the early July Daytona race and the second came at the August Mid Ohio race.
Wayne Nonnamaker's Mid Ohio finish against TPC drivers Jean Francois Dumoulin and Andy Lally has been nominated as one of the top five moments this Grand Am Rolex season. Race footage currently on the Grand American website shows Wayne fighting hard to keep the No. 36 and No. 38 cars behind him during the final lap of the race.
The ORISON-Planet Earth Motorsport team hopes to once again keep the TPC drivers behind them during the Lexus 400 this coming Sunday. This will take a large effort by the team and crew.
The third place No. 41 ORISON-Planet Earth Motorsports car trails the No. 36 TPC Racing car by only six points. The first place No. 38 TPC Racing car has a total of 345 points.
"We have said all season long that we have some great drivers in our class, and we do but we are still gunning for a win to close out the season. We wanted to be challenging for the Championship this season, but we have nine top five finishes this season and two wins. Those stats rival any team in the class except one. Since this is our first year with this car, we are pleased with the progress we have made." states driver Will Nonnamaker.
This will be the last race for the Super Grand Sport class in Rolex competition. For the 2005 season the Super Grand Sport will merge into the Grand Touring class creating a simple two class format for the Grand Am Rolex Series fans to follow.
Watch the exciting race live at California Speedway on SPEEDTV Sunday, Oct. 31 at 4pm EST.
