EXTREME SPEED FIGHTING STRONGLY IN ROLEX 24 EARLY STAGES
DAYTONA, FL, Saturday, January 28: The Tequila Patrón Extreme Speed Ferrari 458 Italia squad was fighting strongly in 15th postition after the opening six hours of the 50th running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona
Johannes van Overbeek started the twice round-the-clock Florida enduro aboard the #03 Ferrari and settled into 10th place early on before eventually moving up to fifth as the opening round of pit stops began.
Unfortunately at the end of van Overbeek's opening stint, the car suffered a fuel sensor related electrical issue which resulted in a couple of slow laps after his stop as well as an additional pit stop to try to get the engine to rev correctly.
Once back under full speed, the ESM Ferrari had slipped down to 37th place in the GT class.
Extreme Speed began a charge back through the field with Ed Brown, Guy Cosmo and Scott Sharp following van Overbeek with stints aboard the car.
Despite the fuel sensor issue and a gearbox issue causing problems on gear downshifts, the Rolex Series debutants had still moved back up to 15th place after six hours.
