GODSTONE RANCH MOTORSPORTS CORVETTE QUALIFIES FOURTH FOR THE ROLEX 24
Daytona Beach, Florida - January 28th, 2010 - It was an exciting qualifying session for the Godstone Ranch Motorsports team today at the Daytona International Speedway. After a difficult start to the day which saw the No. 07 Texas Heart Institute Corvette sidelined during most of the morning practices due to mechanical gremlins, the team managed to successfully fix the problems and hand an extremely fast car to 2008 Grand-Am GT Champion Paul Edwards who immediately jumped to the top of the charts in qualifying.
Despite having basically no time to make changes to the car during the day, Edwards went out for qualifying and in only his fifth time around turned a lap of 1m49.474s which at the time was the quickest of the day, and eventually was good enough to place him fourth on the grid for the Rolex 24. Scott Russell, John McCutchen II and Davy Jones will now take over driving duties for the victory red "Heart" Corvette during night practice as they continue with their preparations for this weekend's event.
No. 07 Texas Heart Institute / GRM / Team MBR / LRPG / Corvette "I'm really happy, it was a great result for us. There were a lot of sad faces this morning after all the problems that we had but it feels good to see everybody smiling and motivated now. The Texas Heart Institute car is really good, Tony Dowe put a great setup on it and I think if we would've had a couple of sessions under our belt we could've gotten pole, that lap was basically with the car the way it came off the trailer. I feel really good for the race, this is my best ever starting position at Daytona, everyone is excited and now we just need to keep working hard and make the most of the track time that we have left before the race."
