fast fleet

The TRG and TRG East fleet had a fast start to the Rolex 24 At Daytona test, notching the second-fastest GT time during the opening afternoon practice. Andy Lally was quickest of the teams' 27 drivers, lapping the 3.56-mile Daytona International Speedway in one minute 57.233 seconds in the No. 65 TRG Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car he shares with Kevin Buckler, Marc Bunting, Carlos de Quesada and Hugh Plumb.

"The technical differences at Daytona since the infield renovation are subtle," Lally said. "We're using the test days to just sort the car out and approach what we think our race setup will be, and so far I'm meshing really well with the new team. Everyone at TRG is quite friendly and we work well together, so the transition has been easy. We gave up a bit of ultimate speed here, as everyone does, to gain some longevity in the car, but to be P2 at the end of the sessions is a good accomplishment."

race troops

It takes a small army to field six cars in a 24-hour race, but TRG and TRG East are ready for the challenge. TRG owner Kevin Buckler and team manager Mike Johnson will oversee race operations, supported by four experienced crew chiefs -- Mike Fox on the No. 16 Team16 Porsche, David Taylor (No. 62 Porsche Club Japan and No. 63 traders), John Bedell (No. 64 Daytona defenders) and Lars Giersing (No. 65 champions). TRG East owner Peter Baron has assigned Robin Hayes as crew chief on the No. 61 TRG East Porsche. Each crew chief has selected a strong crew based on experience and team chemistry.

correction

Takashi Inoue drew attention when the TRG media kit noted he competed in the Formula One World Championship in 1995. Although he is an accomplished racer, the Formula One history belongs to another driver. "It's a common mistake," he said through a translator. "I'm very proud to be known as a Formula One driver, but I'm racing a Porsche at Daytona instead!" Inoue is driving the No. 62 Porsche with Akira Fujita, Akira Hirakawa, Kiichi Takahashi and Hiroshi Wada.

total team

TRG is also fielding the No. 16 Team16 Porsche (Brad Coleman, Colin Braun, Adrian Carrio and Ross Bentley), the No. 63 traders Porsche (Derek Clark, Pat Flanagan, Dave Master and Marc Sluszny) and the No. 64 Daytona defenders Porsche (Miguel Amaral, Pedro Couceiro, Jay Policastro and Joe Policastro). The TRG East Porsche is driven by David Lacey, Robert Nearn, David Shep, Greg Wilkins and Mark Wilkins.
