Daytona Prototypes Summit II set for Indy.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 18, 2003) -- Grand American Road Racing President Roger Edmondson has announced a second annual summit meeting among race officials, car builders and suppliers regarding the Daytona Prototypes. The meeting will be held on April 1st, almost exactly one year after the first summit meeting last year that was held on April 4th.
"We got together with the constructors and suppliers last year when Daytona Prototypes were still a concept," Edmondson noted. "Now we've got two races under our belts and extensive testing. It's a good time to get together and compare notes.
"We expect to talk about technical issues, but we also will be discussing marketing and other long term topics," he added. "Daytona Prototypes represent the future of road racing in America and we want to keep the dialogue going with those companies that share our vision."
Edmondson will head a Grand American delegation that will also include Director of Competition Mark Raffauf, Director of Special Projects Dave Watson, Director of Communications Pat Murphy, Rolex Series Technical Director Rob Elson and engineering consultant Don Hayward.
As was the case last year, the Grand American staff will be talking with representatives of the approved Daytona Prototype constructors - Crawford Race Cars, Doran Enterprises, FABCAR, Multimatic, Picchio and Riley & Scott. Other invited participants include Goodyear, EMCO, X-Trac and Hewland.
