24 Hours of Daytona: engine failure stops Matteo Bobbi
7/01/2008 - The 24h of Daytona finished right after the first fourth of race for Matteo Bobbi, due to a technical problem to the engine. The theme of reliability was the most crucial one at the eve of this event for the very new Coyote-Pontiac, and the problems that had arisen during the race confirmed technicians' and drivers' concerns.
A problem to the alternator forced the car to a long stop in the first hour and this already excluded Bobbi from the top positions battle. The race of the Italian driver and of his team mates went on without any particular twists until the moment of the retirement.
The next round of the Grand-Am Rolex Sport Car Series is due on the 29th of March at Homestead.
"We expected to have some technical issues in this race, as it is normal for a completely new car that scored just a few kilometers before a 24 hours race.
We have two months now to work both on the reliability and on performances of the car. Daytona was surely not a favorable track for us: we hope to largely improve our performances in the next rounds".
