Gotham Competition Daytona Preview

When the Jacalone Brothers looked at the move into the 2008 Rolex Grand American Series, they began by selecting the GT class. The GT Class consists of over 40 cars for the upcoming 24 hours of Daytona, and many different manufacturers.

The Gotham team, with a history in Porsche's throughout the years decided to go with what they know best and therefore obtained a brand new 2008 Porsche 997 which debuted strongly at the January Official Daytona Test Days. For any new team, going with a car you are already familiar with, especially when starting with the daunting task of competing against world- class talent in the rigorous Rolex 24 hours of Daytona, you have one less obstacle to overcome.

Both Joe and Jerome Jacalone will be behind the wheel of the #26 GT entry. The Jacalone's will be joined by Sportscar veteran drivers Max Schmidt, and Bob and Jim Michaelian. The father-son Michaelian pair has competed in Sportscars for a number of years including the 2007 Rolex 24 hours of Daytona. The Gotham Competition team has a strategy of setting a comfortable pace throughout the twice around the clock event, looking to be in the hunt before turning up the wick in the final 6 hours, and their new GT Porsche may just be the car to get them across the finish line first.
