DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., (Jan. 4, 2003) -- January testing at Daytona International Speedway continued Saturday with the second day of a three-day Grand American Road Racing Series Association test session in preparation for the Feb. 1-2 Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Preparing for the 41st anniversary of the Rolex 24 were teams from the Rolex Sports Car Series and the Grand-Am Cup Series teams. Most of the attention was focused on the Daytona Prototype, which again posted some of the fastest times of the day, specifically the powerhouse team of Brumos Racing.

The Brumos Racing team's preparation and previous testing experience at the "World Center of Racing" seemed to be paying off. The No. 58 Brumos Racing Porsche FABCAR posted the top speed in testing again today with David Donohue at the wheel running a lap of 117.45 mph.

"What's most impressive is that this car hadn't even turned a wheel before yesterday," said Donohue. "To be already running fastest in the test is not only a tribute to FABCAR, but testimony to the effort turned in by Alex Job and Brumos Racing.

"You can't count out the No. 59 car," Donohue said of its sister team, which posted the second best time in Friday's session and the fourth best time in today's session. "We ran divergent setups today, and the times are no indication of our car's superiority. The setups between the two cars were a lot different. That's the only way you can learn, and we've still got a lot of learning to do before the Rolex 24. The other car could just as easily have been the fastest car today."

The No. 59 Brumos Racing Porsche FABCAR encountered a broken suspension part in the morning session. The team replaced the broken left upper A frame, and then replaced the corresponding parts on the other side of the car as a precautionary measure. The team was able to return the car to action in time for the start of the afternoon session.

The final day of Rolex 24 testing is Sunday and is open and free to the public with access to a section of the Oldfield Grandstand through the lobby of DAYTONA USA. Tickets for the Rolex 24 At Daytona are available online at www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com or by calling the Speedway ticket office at (386) 253-7223. <pre> Top 10 Rolex Sports Car Series Speeds 1/4/03: No. 58 Brumos Racing Porsche FABCAR (DP) 117.45 mph No. 40 Derhaag Motorsports Corvette (GTS) 116.95 mph No. 8 G&W Motorsports BMW Picchio (DP) 115.93 mph No. 59 Brumos Racing Porsche FABCAR (DP) 115.86 mph No. 29 Sky Blue Racing Mustang (GTS) 115.55 mph No. 24 Perspective Racing Mosler MT900R (GTS) 115.15 mph No. 97 Lucchini Engineering Nissan (SRPII) 114.68 mph No. 88 Multimatic Motorsports Ford Multimatic (DP) 114.36 mph No. 7 Konrad Motorsports Saleen S7R (GTS) 114.10 mph No. 05 Team Re/MAX Racing Corvette (GTS) 113.82 mph
