DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 31, 2002) -- Brumos Motor Cars President and CEO Bob Snodgrass announced Wednesday that the famed Brumos Racing Team would return to professional competition in 2003 with a Fabcar-designed, Porsche-powered Daytona Prototype coupe.

Snodgrass made the announcement at a reception hosted by Grand American President Roger Edmondson to unveil the rules for the Daytona Prototypes, set to become the new standard in the Rolex Sports Car Series in 2003.

"Brumos has a rich tradition in professional racing and our share of championships," Snodgrass explained. "I see a lot of potential for this new Daytona Prototype class and I wanted to be in early and help it get going."

The Dave Klym-designed car will be piloted by longtime Brumos driver Hurley Haywood and J.C. France. When asked about driving in the new race class Haywood noted, "As a professional driver, any car you drive on the edge is exciting. The designs I've seen show a car that I'll be able to drive to 100 percent of its power and handling. That's exciting for a driver because then your talents make the difference."

Fabcar is one of several car builders that announced they are taking orders as they finalize design plans. "Dave Klym heard about this project when we first started to discuss it," Edmondson said. "He has been a great help in giving us input on our rules structure as have a lot of other very knowledgeable builders from around the world. We're fortunate to have him this far along in visualizing his car. I can't wait to see a lot of them on the race track."
