Brumos Racing brings momentum of back-to-back podiums to Montreal

Jacksonville, FL: With just three races to go in the 2012 GRAND-AM Rolex Series schedule, Brumos is on a roll and ready to do battle at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Since it was first added to the Rolex Series schedule in 2007, the track has hosted some dramatic and memorable races. For Brumos, Montreal has brought a mixture of heartbreak and of celebration. Few will forget the devastating loss in 2008 of what had seemed a sure win as the #58 Brumos DP coasted across the finish line out of fuel. Last season saw Brumos deliver a top five finish that helped them close in on the championship. For 2012, Brumos returns to Montreal with the strong momentum of two consecutive podiums behind them, ready to give it their all and hoping to make it three in a row.

Brumos qualifying and starting driver Andrew Davis narrowly missed scoring the pole position in 2011 and has done quite well on the Canadian circuit in years past. “Montreal is a place that I hold dear,” he said. “I have had a lot of success there with two wins and a podium in the last four years. We were really strong there with our #59 Brumos Porsche 911 GT3 last year. We fought for the pole, started on the front row, and had a good top five finish. We just didn’t have quite the car we needed in the long run then, but we’ve made a lot of progress and have a better car now, so we are really optimistic. After two podiums in a row, we are going for our third and our guys are firing on all cylinders. We definitely need to have strong finishes to try and claw our way back up in the points. The fans in Montreal are always the best – they love the sport and will be there, rain or shine, cheering for us. The stands will be packed and the fans really energize the drivers, so we are really looking forward to getting back to Montreal. We know we will do the Brumos faithful proud and do Porsche proud and we will have a good finish.”

Leh Keen is also anticipating a return to Montreal, but for a very different reason, saying, “Montreal is actually kind of my nemesis. I love going there and I love racing on the track, but I have never really had a great result there. I have qualified on the pole before, but just haven’t seen a good finish, so I am definitely looking for that result this time. Last year when we were there, we were racing for points and in the hunt for the championship, so finishing in the top five really helped us in that respect. This year we have our podium streak going, so we are definitely looking to extend that, but we are also looking for that first win. We have finished on the podium more this year than we did last year, which has kept us in good position, but last year we had two wins, so we not only want to get to the podium to keep our streak alive, we want to move up to the top step this time.”
