Brendon Hartley joins Starworks for Rolex Daytona 24 hours.

Brendon Hartley has joined the Starworks Team for the Rolex Daytona 24 Hour. Brendon has worked with Starworks before when it ran the Murphy Prototypes entry at Petit Le Mans.

Hartley has starred for Murphy Prototypes in LMP2 this year and will make his Daytona Prototype debut at Daytona. Having worked with Hartley at Petit Le Mans, Peter Baron of Starworks was suitably impressed at the test and immediately offered him the drive at the Rolex Daytona 24 Hour test.

Hartley is of course well-known for being a member of the Red Bull young driver programme for four years, which gave him the opportunity to be F1 reserve driver for both Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2009 and 2010.

Since this deal ended in 2010 Brendon has raced in World Series by Renault, GP2 and most recently leading LMP2 in the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Brendon has been the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS F1 simulator development driver since 2011, and will continue in this role for 2013.

The New Zealander said: “This is only my 2nd time here in the States, the first time was Petit and it’s great to be back. This is a great chance for me to prove myself in Daytona Prototypes and to work alongside Peter and the Starworks team again”

The Daytona 24 Hour takes place from the 26th to the 27th of January 2013.
