ELECTRICAL GREMLIN FOILS FINLAY AND VALIANTE'S RUN AT BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK

BIRMINGHAM, AL (July 30, 2006) Qualifying on the twelfth row for today's running of the Porsche 250 Presented by Bradley Arant, Rob Finlay and Michael Valiante were geared up for today's 250-mile contest. Finlay climbed behind the wheel of the No. 5 Make-A-Wish/Z-Line Designs Daytona Prototype machine and prepared to do battle. Picking up three spots by the end of the first lap, Finlay was on a tear. Continuing to move up through the field running in the 17th position until an electrical problem forced Finlay to pull the car off course. When the team's Ford-powered machine returned to the paddock area the crew quickly took care of the problem and was able to return to action.

"The car was running really strong," said Rob Finlay. "I was just carefully moving my way up through the field until an electrical problem with the car forced us to take the car back to the paddock area and make repairs. The crew did a great job and we ran as high as we could and made up some ground in the hunt for the Jim Trueman award."

Finlay's teammate, Michael Valiante climbed behind the wheel and returned to action. With the car already a few laps down because of the electrical problem the team decided to put Rob Finlay back into the car in order to continue to chip away at the prestigious honors. Finlay lapped the 2.52-mile circuit logging a total of 76 laps by the end of the 2 - hour time limit race. "Rob did a great job today it's just too bad we had the electrical problem early in the race," said Michael Valiante. "We're just looking forward to the next one at the Glen and hopefully we'll be able to get our top-10 streak back on track."

The Finlay Motorsports team will next compete in the Crown Royal 200 at the Glen on Friday, August 11th.
