BEYER RACING WILL LINE UP ON THE SIXTH AND SEVENTH ROW AT BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK
Birmingham, Alabama - July 18th, 2009 - The Beyer Racing team completed qualifying today for the Porsche 250 presented by Legacy Credit Union under sunny skies and relatively mild temperatures at the impressive Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, where the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series will contest round eight of its 2009 Season on Sunday.
Jordan Taylor turned a lap of 1m22.584s in his #5 Lennox Chevrolet Crawford which places him 12th on the grid for Sunday's race. Although this is the best ever starting position for the #5 car, Taylor wasn't completely pleased as he had shown considerable potential in the practice sessions and had high hopes of qualifying in the top ten. Teammate Jared Beyer, who will race for the first time on this picturesque track on Sunday, had a productive run in morning practice and will take over the car during the second half of the race on Sunday with high confidence and a competitive pace.
The #13 Lennox Chevrolet Riley was qualified by Ricky Taylor who turned a lap of 1m23.019s, he will start 13th and outside the top ten for only the second time in six races. Taylor and teammate Mike Forest have had a difficult weekend but have kept working with their Beyer Racing crew to find a setup for the Riley chassis that suits this 2.3-mile, 16-turn track. After practice this morning they decided to make significant changes for qualifying which improved their overall grip and balance and helped Taylor turn his fastest lap of the weekend. Forest, who will not have any practice laps before tomorrow's race, will jump into the car tomorrow during the second half of the event and will have to quickly adapt to this new setup without loosing any time or positions.

"Qualifying wasn't too bad considering how much time we've had with the Crawford chassis on a technical track like this. So 12th is not bad but we were definitely hoping to have a top ten result. We were quick in practice and we were pretty confident for qualifying, we ended up running the same speeds as in practice but just didn't improve as much as everybody else which is what got us."

"It's been a difficult weekend, we've been struggling quite a bit with the setup and just trying to catch up to everybody else. But the Beyer Racing crew did a great job, we made a lot of changes and improved a lot from practice to qualifying. But we are still a couple of seconds off the leaders so we need to keep working at it and figure out how to pick up a little more speed for tomorrow so we can have a good race."
