In the 16-car GT field, the rain held off and a first-time pole winner emerged as Robin Liddell set the fastest time on the Watkins Glen road course.
Matt Bell and John Edwards finished 10th in their No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro at the Circuit of The Americas' first Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race in Texas.
The young American duo is looking forward to their third consecutive season co-driving together in the GS Camaro. Stevenson Motorsports will run a car in the Rolex series GT class.
