AIM Autosport continues to give Commits VIR "dollars-per-mile" fund to Buchanan County Food Pantries

Woodbridge, Ontario (2009.05.15) Prior to the race at Virginia International Raceway, AIM Autosport teamed with CONSOL Energy, its sponsor for that event, to visit local communities in West Virginia and Virginia and help collect food and donations for area food banks. The two-day program was deemed a success with some thirteen hundred pounds of non-perishable food items collected and over one thousand dollars in cash donations being split between the various entities. CONSOL Energy had pledged to match the cash donations and stepped up by donating that amount to each of the four food banks involved.

Just prior to the race, AIM Autosport team principals pledged to donate ten dollars for every mile the CONSOL Energy No. 61 Ford Riley completed in the Bosch Engineering 250 at VIR. After calculating the distance traveled (258.3 miles) AIM Autosport is happy to donate two thousand, five hundred and eighty three dollars and thirty cents, the proceeds going to the Buchanan Community Food Pantry, the COPE Food Pantry and the Hurley Community Development - Knox Creek Food Pantry. AIM will increase the total pledge to two thousand, seven hundred dollars ($2,700) with each of the three food pantries receiving nine hundred dollars ($900).

"After spending a full day in the Buchanan County area, we were able to identify this as an area much in need at this time" commented AIM Autosport driver Mark Wilkins. "The food pantries in that area are feeding many families so anything we can do to assist CONSOL Energy's efforts to benefit the food pantries is paramount." When told of the donation by AIM Autosport, CONSOL Energy officials expressed their gratitude especially as since the food drive, one particular Buchanan County food pantry had to suspend distribution as they had simple run out of food and money.

AIM Autosport will distribute the funds to the food pantries when it returns from its current west coast trip to Laguna Seca.
