Team RSC Mucke Motorsport again in misfortune at the GP3 - Tobias Hegewald almost hit the first point on position nine at Valencia
Berlin/Valencia (rol/ot) The drivers of the German Team RSC Mucke Motorsport missed out on the aimed ranking in points at the third season event of the GP3 Series in the general program of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe this weekend at Valencia (Spain). Best placed driver of the racing team from the German capital city has been Tobias Hegewald (Waldbreitbach), which almost hit his first point on Saturday (26th of June) at the fifth season race finishing on position nine. At the sixth season race on Sunday (27th of June) Hegewald has been on position five already, before he has been dispatched 2 laps ahead the finish line of one of his competitors and discarded.
"Tobias showed a great performance at Valencia. He had a very good development and the fifth position on Sunday would have been deserved", underlined Peter Mucke. "Of course it is very aggravating that he has been dispatched of one of the competitors because of all the hard work behind him and the team. Unfortunately there are still a few drivers that are known for things like that. The sports commissars should look a little closer at these things - not only because one of our drivers has been hit this time", told the team principal of the only German racing stable at the GP3 Series.
Alike Hegewald his Dutch team colleagues Nigel Melker and Renger van der Zande have been involved at collisions through no fault of their own on Saturday and didn't cross the finish line. On Sunday Melker has been on position 15, van der Zande has been on 24. "The placings have not been important at all for us yet at this run. We used this race to do setup work on both cars", told Peter Mucke, that has Ralf Schumacher (the RSC in the team name stands for the former Formula 1 driver and actual Mercedes DTM pilot) as a prominent combatant and partner in his team. Melker has already been on position three on Saturday before a competitor drove over the rear of his car. "That cost the placing on the podium for Nigel", stated Peter Mucke. "Renger was good and fast on track as well before the collision. We are still in misfortune at the races. But one thing is clear: RSC Mucke Motorsport is definitely one of the top teams at the GP3".
Winners of the race at Valencia have been the Mexican Esteban Gutierrez (Saturday) and the Switzerland Nico Muller (Sunday). The races seven and eight of the GP3 Series are scheduled for 9th to 11th of July at Silverstone (England).
