SUCCESSFUL TEST FOR ATECH CRS GP AHEAD OF SPANISH ROUNDS

Atech CRS Grand Prix head into the latest rounds of the GP3 series at Valencia this weekend buoyed by a successful two-day test at the Spanish track last week. Briton Oli Oakes ended up quickest of the three drivers in fifth place while GP3 rookie Spaniard Roberto Merhi also placed an impressive sixth quickest on his very first time in the car.

Italian Vittorio Ghirelli spent much of the session testing set-up for the street circuit races and had no chance to run on new tyres. Despite that the youngster set an impressive pace ahead of this weekend's two races, rounds five and six of the championship.

With just two events held, the new single-seater series, which supports most of the European Grands Prix, has already lived up to pre-season expectations. For the Silverstone-based team, which heads to its home round at the British Grand Prix next month, last week's test has shown a return to form for Team Principal David Hayle who is confident of a potential debut victory.

"Oli once again showed an impressive turn of speed last week and I am confident that he will be able to repeat that pace when it comes to official qualifying and the races this weekend.

"I worked with Roberto in Formula 3 and he is undoubtedly another quick driver, who this weekend will be subbing for Patrick Reiterer. It was his very first time in a GP3 car so to end up sixth fastest is a fantastic achievement.

"Vittorio was tasked with carrying out set-up tests for racing on a street circuit and once again he showed tremendous maturity and gave us great feedback which hopefully will net a good result next time out."

The event kicks off with practice at 16.50 on Friday 25th June with qualifying at 08.45 on Saturday 26th. Race one gets underway at 17.20 later that day with the second race, on Sunday 27th at 09.25.
