All teams testing GP3 Series in Estoril were with the new 2013 package fitted with a 400HP engine.
The first collective test of the 2013 GP3 Series season started on an high note for Trident this week at Estoril.
In the three-day session held at the Portuguese venue, the team's three drivers David Fumanelli, Giovanni Venturini and Emanuele Zonzini completed all the scheduled work and all three of them achieved their respective goals.
All the teams and drivers on-track at Estoril were at their first time with the 2013 package featuring a new car fitted with a 400-horsepower engine.
As a consequence, nobody had previous standards but the team successfully validated the indications gathered back home in Italy. David Fumanelli ended up day 1 in fourth place but climbed up to the top spot in the following day's AM segment.
Venturini also clocked some impressive laptimes. Although he logged the second fastest lap overall in Day 2, the most impressive thing from him was the consistence showed in every possible condition.
Trident, as well as all the GP3 Series teams, will be back running in the series' next collective test, scheduled for the 12th and 13th of March at Barcelona.
Giovanni Venturini: "I liked how this car perform since the very first outing. Then on the following day I took second place, sitting just three tenths off Sainz's time despite I was slowed down by two cars in what turned out to be my fastest lap.
I think it's very early to understand where everybody's at now, but my approach has been very positive. I found the new and more powerful engine pretty fitting with the car and the package feels more balanced overall.
I also think that our engineers did a great job. The chemistry was there, straight away. I can't wait to be back on-track."
David Fumanelli: "Everybody in the team worked great, and we kept steadily in the top-5 in all conditions. In the AM segment of Day 2 I climbed up to the top of the charts, but I'm very satisfied for the consistency rather than for the single-lap performance.
In every possible condition, in the dry or in the wet and in the key moments when we put new tires on, the feeling has been great. I'm very confident."
Emanuele Zonzini: "It's been a very intense three day of testing. We ran in some very different conditions and it's been a sensational experience. It was the first time for me on such a powerful car: I drove the old GP3 car and engine package but this one is a completely different animal.
I started to familiarize with it lap by lap and I found it much more efficient. I found myself well-suited in all areas. A good cooperation has started with my team-mates and with team's staff and I'm very motivated to give my 100% throughout the season."
