Trident continues in successful preparations for the new season

The GP3 Series was back for preseason testing as team and drivers lined-up at the Montmeló racetrack, close to Barcelona. The cars went on-track last Tuesday and Wednesday for the second collective test of 2013 but while the rain disrupted the sessions, Trident completed the work scheduled with its three drivers.

The team was able to sample their rain set-ups in a real-life environment and both the drivers and the team's technical staff were satisfied with the results achieved.

Trident will be back for another pre-season GP3 Series test on the next 3rd and 4th of April at Silverstone.

David Fumanelli: “This test has been key in terms of the championship and that result goes beyond the crude charts. Despite some inconveniences due to the weather, we completed a substantial amount of work.

Not all of the solutions improved our performance but that's why these tests are so important. We ruled out some choices and, once back to the previous configuration, the laptimes proved really good.

It's been tough to go for a fast-lap performance in the second day because we only had one hour or so in the dry but, except for the traffic, I'm very satisfied with my confidence with the car”.

Giovanni Venturini: “I'm very happy with the results and feedback we got from this two-day session. At Estoril we had proved that we can be fast in dry conditions and this time we were able to spend more time with the wet set-up.

I made some mistakes in day 1 and I did not take full advantage of the car's potential but then, on Wednesday, I went on-track with slick tires during the first hour and clocked the fifth fastest laptime of the day despite a slight error that cost me a couple of tenths in the first sector”.

Emanuele Zonzini: “Every single test is very important for me because lap after lap I keep familiarizing with a completely new car and with all the specific aspects of the GP3 Series. I'm well-suited within the team including my two team-mates.

There's a great cooperative spirit here and we work really well together. I'm less experienced than my two team-mates but I keep learning. We kept working hard on the car on the dry and constantly improved the handling.

Unfortunately I suffered for the traffic as I still have to learn how to manage it. It hasn't been easy with the rain on Wednesday because I had never driven such a powerful car in the wet.

But I'm sure this will turn out to be an extremely valuable experience in terms of the championship”.
