Two placings between the top ten for the Team RSC Mucke Motorsport at the GP3 on Sunday at Silverstone - Tobias Hegewald gains first racing points on Saturday on position four
Berlin/Silverstone (rol/ot) The so far most successful racing weekend for the German Team RSC Mucke Motorsport from Berlin ends with two placings between the top ten in the eights season run on Sunday (11th of July) at the GP3 Series. The day before (10th of July) Tobias Hegewald gained the first racing points on position four in the 7th run for the only German racing stable at the GP3, that has Ralf Schumacher (the RSC in the team name stands for the former Formula 1 and actual Mercedes DTM pilot) as a prominent combatant and partner between his rows.
"Altogether it has been a successful performance of our whole team and the three drivers at Silverstone. I think the performance was very impressive", tells team principal Peter Mucke. "Tobias started from qualifying on position five and he has been on positions four and six at the two races and drove up front the whole time. Nigel showed us a great catch up race on Saturday with nice overtaking maneuvers and made up 11 positions. Renger has had great speed as well and even the fastest lap time once on Sunday. Fortunately we didn't have bad luck this time", explains the principal of the biggest private racing stable of Germany, that is committed to the DTM (German Touring Car Masters), Formula 3 Euro Series, Formula BMW Europe and ADAC Formel Masters as well.
Already at the qualifying Tobias Hegewald achieved his so far best result on position five at the time training. And all that even after a crash at the free training on Friday (9th of July) and the car has been damaged. But the team prepared the Dallara Renault racer again perfectly. "Of course I am very happy about my first points at the GP3 and my best season result", told the 20 year old. "On Saturday there was the possibility to get to the podium but because of the slip stream driving the tyres decomposed at the end", told Hegewald, that completed his so far best GP3 racing weekend on Sunday on position six and added another point. After a good start he ran into fights about positions at the first turn and had to leave space for two rivals to pass by.
Renger van der Zande ended the race on Sunday on the 5.9 km long track of Silverstone on position seven after he started the race from position eleven (his placing of the race from Saturday). For his Netherland compatriot Nigel Melker the race on Sunday ended in the third lap, after he drove up to position 12 starting from 23 on Saturday. A competitor drove on his left rear wheel of his Dallara Renault and Melker had to stable the car besides the track after that with a broken axle. Winners of the race have been altogether front-runner Esteban Gutierrez (Mexico/Saturday) and Daniel Morad (Canada/Sunday).
The races nine and ten of the GP3 are scheduled from 23rd to 25th of July in the main program of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Germany at the Hockenheimring. "That will be a home match for our German team where we want to ty on to our performance at Silverstone. If everything works well we should get a placing on the podium at Hockenheim", thinks team principal Peter Mucke.
