Alexander Rossi tops GP3 morning session again

The second and final day of the first ever official GP3 Series test commenced at Paul Ricard today, again on a 3D configuration layout. Temperatures at the South of France track were still very low, but fortunately the conditions stayed dry and the 30 young drivers were able to put in consistent and impressive lap times in a session shortly red flagged only three times.

Reliability during the morning was certainly not a problem as the teams posted 955 laps between them, totalling nearly 3,700 kms.

ART's Alexander Rossi clocked in the quickest laptime of the morning again in 1:20.226, sixth tenths ahead of Pablo Sanchez Lopez at Addax Team. Manor Racing's James Jakes finished in a strong third place, less than one tenth behind the Mexican driver. Whilst MW Arden's Michael Christensen put in another strong performance finishing fourth quickest overall. Carlin's Max Chilton rounded out the top five.

The top ten consisted of eight different teams proving what a closely fought season we have to look forward to.

The test continues for the final session this afternoon at 14.00, local time.
