Nigel Melker first to sign again for RSC Mucke in GP3 for 2011
Title is the goal
BERLIN - Nigel Melker has extended his deal with RSC Mucke Motorsport. The 19-year-old from The Netherlands (Barendrecht) took part in the brand new GP3 Series this year, defending the colours for the team of former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher and team boss Peter Mucke. Melker is ready to fight for the title in GP3 next year.
"We have had a typical first season in the GP3 Series with its highs and lows", said boss Peter Mucke. "We ended the season on a high with a second, fourth and eighth place during the qualifications in Monza. We will now have the chance to improve our car this winter, using Nigel's experience. We are convinced we can fight for the title next year."
Melker is absolutely ready for his second season in the GP3 Series. After more of an educational year he wants to be successful in 2011. "This has really been a learning year for me", explained Melker. "I have gained a lot of experience this season and next year my goal is to fight for the wins. I have showed my potential with two pole positions and a fastest lap in Monza. I am feeling full of confidence."
The GP3 season might be over, but Melker isn't done yet. This weekend he will compete in the German Formula 3 Championship where he will drive for Jo Zeller Racing. "There aren't any more GP3 races, so this is a great way to stay sharp."
