Istanbul Race 2 quotes

GP3 Series: Rio fantastic win from pole position today, what your thoughts going into the race?

Rio Haryanto: Yes well obviously this was my first pole position and yetrday we had anot so good qualifying, we were p16 -- one he first set of tyres we were up there but on the second set there were so many yellow flags so I couldn't get a clean lap. It meant i started Race 1 from P16, but I managed to finish 8th and then start on pole. This morning i just treid to stay cool and stay calm and got a good start.

GP3 Series: You then you seemed to hold off second placed man fairly easily.

Rio Haryanto: Yes, at the beginning of the race it was quite tight, but by the middle of the race I knew that my car was faster so i just kept pushing and finished with a good gap at the end. The last three laps I just took it easy to bring back the car safely.

GP3 Series: Great second place finish, can you talk me through your start.

Miki Monras: I think the only the chance we had to win or fight was doing a better start than Haryanto, so i think i did a really good start, it was my best start so far, but Haryanto also got a good start. We were together at the first corner, but he had the inside line so it was difficult to overtake, i tried to keeo behind him in the first 5 laps, but it's quite difficult to overtake because it's so competitive. At least I put some pressure on him, but he able to keep a good rhythm. Finally by the last few laps I decided just to keep pace and make no mistakes to finish second.

GP3 Series: Your weekend didn't start off well on Friday so you must be happy with a podium today.

Miki Monras: Yes definitely. On Friday I didn't think it would be possible to get a podium so I think it was a really job for the team, and I think myself I was able to find a solution to the situation.

GP3 Series: You seemed to get a bit bogged down at the start of the race, what happened?

Alexander Rossi: Yes I mean I just got the pre-load wrong on clutch and you know it seemed fine off the line but then the clutch caught up to me and it almost stalled so i had to pull the clutch in and do the process all over again. I was actually fortunate to only lose one spot because Esteban and james didn't get a fantastic start either so it quote okay. For there I wanted to win the race and we were in a good position, but i knew it was going to be difficult so i adjusted my goals for a podium and we able to do that.

GP3 Series: You certainly had an exciting race and battled throughout.

Alexander Rossi: Yes absolutely. With Nico it was good. We gave each other enough room to get by and it was quite fun. We had a bit of contact in to turn twelve but it was just the front wing end plate and side pod so it wasn't that big of a deal. It was a little dicey but good fun. It was good racing. Obviously Esteban is my biggest competitor, but the points are close enough now going into Valencia, and I'm happy that we have the test beforehand.
