RSC Mucke Motorsport gets first podium at GP3 - Renger van der Zande third at Hockenheim - Timmy Hansen reaches first seasons victory at Formula BMW Europe
Berlin/Hockenheim (rol/ot) Successful opening at home race at Hockenheim: The German Team RSC Mucke Motorsport from Berlin got his first placing on the podium at the GP3 series on Saturday (24th of July). The Netherland Renger van der Zande has been on position three at the 9th season run. And at the 9th season run of the Formula BMW Europe the racing stable from the German capital city brought the winner of the race. The Swede Timmy Hansen reached the first victory of this season for himself and Mucke Motorsport at the offspring series.
^ATo get a victory and a podium placing on the first day of this home race weekend is a big deal for our whole team of course", said team principal Peter Mucke. ^AAnd it is a great earning for the hard work we all did. Certainly we had to deal with two downers again at the GP3." Nigel Melker (Netherlands) as well as Tobias Hegewald (Waldbreitbach) retired early again after getting involved in collisions with combatants - Melker at the second curve, Hegewald after the second re-start. ^AIt is just aggravating to get carried off track by combatants if you have a good position. For Nigel and Tobias very deplorable, even because they have the same good speed like Renger to be up front of the peloton", tells the principal of RSC Mucke Motorsport, that has Ralf Schumacher (the RSC in the team name stands for the former Formula 1 and actual Mercedes DTM pilot) as a prominent combatant and partner in his rows.
Renger van der Zande has been jubilant after his third rank: ^AYou know, this podium is so important for me and the team because we have been struggling a lot since the beginning of the season. There's always been something going wrong to destroy our weekend. We had high expectations for this season and we have the pace. We have always a very good pace, but in the end, we are not where we were aiming at. And it's true that it's been very difficult on the team. This podium today is a great reward for all of us. It is so important to put back a smile on everyone's face and realise that all this hard work has not been for nothing. That smile is important." He gathered his first racing points of this season and the winner of this race has been the Canadian Robert Wickens.
At the Formula BMW Europe Mucke Motorsport pilot Timmy Hansen (Sweden) started into the second half of this season with a great opening. With his first victory of this year he went up to the third position at the overall rankings. ^AThe win just feels great", told the Swede, that is behind the wheel the second year in a row for the German racing team at the offspring series. Hansen drove up to position two after a good start when the track was getting dry again. Four laps later he overtook the leading Netherland Robin Frijns and didn't give back his first place until the end of the race. ^AA great performance of Timmy", commended Peter Mucke.
And the team principal of Mucke Motorsport has been satisfied with his freshman Maciej Bernacik as well. The Rookie from Poland that is sponsored by BMW reached the 9th place and met the goal of top ten. ^AMaciej proofed himself at the duels and was able to make up six positions after starting from position 15. We are very satisfied with that performance", tells Peter Mucke.
