Hilmer Motorsport is pleased to announce that Italian racer Riccardo Agostini will join the team for the race of the GP3 Series at the Red Bull Ring.

Agostini began his racing career at the age of six years and stepped up to Italian Formula Abarth in 2010, where he claimed his first victory and two podiums. The following year, Agostini scored further podiums in Italian Formula Abarth until he entered the Italian Formula 3 Championship in 2012. With five race wins and a total of 24 podiums, Agostini was crowned Champion of the Italian and also the European Formula 3 Championship. As a reward for his success in Formula 3, Agostini got the chance to test a Ferrari Formula One car at the end of the year. In 2013, he was testing with Hilmer Motorsport in GP2 before the season and was racing in Auto GP and Formula Renault 3.5 later the year.

The Italian driver Agostini will make his GP3 race debut at the Red Bull Ring in Austria on 20th June 2014 and he will be at the wheel of car #19. In the event of a successful result the team and also Agostini are willing to discuss the opportunity to race until the end of the season.

Franz Hilmer, Team Principal of Hilmer Motorsport: "We would like to welcome Riccardo Agostini in our GP3 team and we are very happy that he will join us for the race at the Red Bull Ring. We followed Riccardo’s career closely in the past and he was already testing with our GP2 team in the pre-season test days last year. He is a very talented young race driver and we are convinced that he can be a front-runner. The team is looking forward to working with him this season and we hope that we can have good race results with Riccardo.”

Riccardo Agostini, Driver #19 Hilmer Motorsport: “I am happy to debut in the GP3 Series with Hilmer Motorsport. I met the team and we have a good relationship already. In this Championship, a positive result is very important. It’s a unique opportunity to be under the spotlight, even if the level of the series is very high. The partnership of Hilmer Motorsport with a Formula One Team such as Sahara Force India is an added value. From the race at the Red Bull Ring, I will be in the front line again and I can’t wait for it. I am looking forward to the first event and I would like to thank the team for giving me the chance to race with them.”
