Italian racer Gianmaria Bruni claimed from the pole position his second season victory today on the Hockenheimring circuit of Germany, for race one of the GP2 Series' eighth round. Standings leader, Lewis Hamilton, took home second place followed by local Timo Glock.

Bruni led the competition from the beginning to finally get the chequered flag after 40 laps and 57.40:663 of hard racing.

"I am really happy, especially because I had contact with Nelson at the start and he broke my exhaust. In the last 10 laps I couldn't use sixth gear, but I held on, drove hard, and came out with the win!", Bruni stated.

This result gives Trident Racing their second series victory and repeats San Marino`s history when Bruni took the race after he got the pole on Friday.

British driver Hamilton made a fantastic business for the championship taking second place and eight points while his main rival Nelson A. Piquet was in fourth but retired in the final laps of the race.

"The car felt great for me, and we needed the points. Considering that Gimmi had so many problems, he was extremely quick. I really was extremely impressed with his pace and how he drove", mentioned the Brit.

The top three was completed by local man Glock as the German grabbed his third podium with iSport International in five races with the team.

"I just tried to make the pitstop too perfect and I knew straight away I'd been too fast in the pits. The guys did an awesome job. I wish I could have won for my home fans but there's always tomorrow", Glock said.

FMS International`s driver Giorgio Pantano took fourth place ahead of Ernesto Viso, Adam Carroll, José María López who recovered from 26th on the grid and Cilvio Piccione, who will lead the field in tomorrow`s starting grid.
