Champion Timo Takes Final Win of 2007
Timo Glock has clinched the 2007 GP2 Series title by doing what he does best, racing out of his skin to take a dominant win. The German was never headed in today's race after taking the lead at the start, and crossed the line to wrap up the drivers' title to add to the team championship his iSport International squad sealed yesterday. Lucas di Grassi fought bravely but ultimately finished out of the points. Giorgio Pantano came home fifth with Luca Filippi sixth, meaning the Italian duo finish the year level on points. Giorgio however takes third in the championship on race wins.
Race Report: As the lights went out Timo screamed into the lead followed by the Spanish gaggle of pole- sitter Javier Villa, Marcos Martinez, Andy Soucek and Borja Garcia. Lucas had leapt up to 15th from 23rd with Luca up to 9th from 18th. By lap three the Italian was up to eighth and aiming for seventh placed Vitaly Petrov. When Marcos ran wide however, Luca's mission became all the more crucial as this elevated Giorgio to fifth and two points, with Luca then seventh and out of the points.
For lap after lap, Javi held Timo true keeping the gap at a steady 1.1 seconds for the first ten laps. With Kazuki Nakajima to contend with on his rear wing, Luca had let Vitaly slip out of reach, but when the Russian fell off the track on lap 20, Luca was up to sixth and the final point. Try as he might, however, Luca just couldn't cut the gap to Giorgio by enough to set up a challenge.
Up at the front, Timo by now was pulling away from Javi. The gap on lap 20 was 3.0 seconds. By lap 23, it was 4.5 seconds, and by the penultimate lap it was 7.1 seconds. Despite claiming before the race that he would drive within himself to settle the title, Timo was swelling with pride and confidence with every turn, putting in a faultless and determined push to the win.
Behind him, Javi raced well to take second, with Andy Soucek a fine third for DPR. Borja Garcia took fourth for Durango, with Giorgio fifth and Luca sixth. Timo finished off the season in style with fastest lap.
What about the championship? Timo Glock and iSport International are 2007 GP2 Series Champions. Timo's final score is 88 points, with Lucas di Grassi second on 77 points. Giorgio Pantano finished third on 59, level with Luca Filippi, but takes third in the championship due to having scored more race wins.
In the teams' championship iSport International take top honours, with 118 points, with ART Grand Prix second on 87 points. Campos Grand Prix take third in the championship with 80 points.

It's strange at the moment: it's just the finish of the last race, but when you hear the engineers and my team boss over the radio, and all the mechanics, I'm just so happy. We won the team championship as well, so that's just the perfect feeling. And for now, I just hope we can get something done for 2008.
2. Javier Villa: Racing Engineering. +5.474
I think this weekend we would be quicker, but today we started in pole position and had not a really good start, too much spinning, but in the end we were second. Timo was really, really quick for the whole race, and in the end I think he lifted a little bit, but we had already used the tyres because we were pushing really hard.
3. Andy Soucek : DPR. +7.099
It was amazing: since we did a good race in Monza all the team was just hoping to be quick in the next few races, and so Spa was just a huge motivation for them. I was hoping to be on the podium here in Valencia, and the pressure was very high of course, but now I've done it, I'm very happy, and I can go home.
